I've come to realize something about how we ask God for things. God gives us many blessings. We become so accustomed and weathered to these generosities given by him that we seem to ask him for everything we don't really need. This "epiphany," and I only call it that because "revelation" doesn't seem to fit, came when I considered some customers at the Starbucks at which I work. Most Iced Venti drinks come with 3 shots of espresso. However, we pull shots in even numbers. It come to be, that a lot of our regulars have been blatantly asking for the 4th shot for free. At times, I think this is asking for too much. It's one thing for us to offer it, but it's another thing to expect it. "I'll have a triple grande latte (but really a quad)." We often think the same way of God. "Well, you're going to give it to me anyway." I think this most directly relates with our sins. "You're going to forgive me anyway" Paul talks often of God's grace being sufficient. He also emphasizes that we can't just sin because he is so willing to give us grace. God is so freely giving us grace and everything we ask for, but sometimes, i think we can get out of place. He answers our prayers, according to his will. Final point: God is amazing.
